Aria is a technopath, which enables her to communicate with machines and electronics. Her power seems to require physical contact with the device and a certain level of concentration, after which the changes she wishes to make are almost instantaneous.

Brief overall personality:
Aria is a very precise individual. Some would say that she's borderline obsessive-compulsive. Her mind is very compartmentalized, likely due to her abilities; every thought has its place, and everything has to be organized, much like a computer. She generally keeps her emotions to herself, and is very well-studied and astute. Aria is very good at controlling her emotions, she can keep her cool when she needs to or let out her rage. She isn’t the type to express herself by telling other people how she feels, especially if she didn’t fully trust them. She keeps to herself and tried to blend in with her surroundings.

She’s the type of girl that sees knowledge as powers, so she keeps it to herself most of the time, unless it is specific information that needs to be shared. She doesn’t let secrets out without a good reason for it. She comes up with different ways to solve problems that can be both useful and more creative than any regular person.

Brief history:
Aria was raised by her father, Hank Mathis, after her mother left when Aria was still an infant. While Hank tried his hardest and loved his daughter dearly, he was not always the best at showing this to her. Afraid of losing his only remaining family, Hank became overly protective of his little girl. Aria relished in this attention as a young girl, but as she neared her teen years this was to change. As boys, designer clothes, and independence entered the picture, Aria struggled to find her place without her father's hovering.

The situation was further complicated by the financial instability the pair faced. Being a teenage girl, Aria wanted designer clothes which cost money, money that her father simply did not have. After one of many fights about money, Aria went with her father to the bank. As Aria leaned against the ATM her father was using, she silently wished that her father's account would somehow have the extra money she needed. Oddly, as her father entered in his PIN she heard him say "we'll that's strange." The account had an unexpected extra $200, more than enough to buy that pair of jeans Aria just had to have.

Her father wrote it off as an error he had made in balancing his checkbook Aria however had felt a link with the ATM as she had made her wish, as if the machine had listened to her. A week later, Aria went with her father again to the same ATM and this time, as she reached out a hand to touch the machine, she wished that the account would have an extra $500. She was specific this time to see if she really was controlling this somehow. For the second time, the bank account was higher than it should have been.

Seeing a way out of their financial struggles and not foreseeing any drawbacks, Aria continued to accompany her father to the bank on his visits, noticing that her power only worked when she made physical contact with the machine. That is until the day when the consequences came raining down.

When the carnival came to town, Aria went to the ATM and withdrew some money…from a random account to pay for her tickets and food. What she could not know was that her actions were to have dire consequences as while she was enjoying herself at the carnival that day, her father was arrested. According to the bank, her father had somehow, that they could not explain, been stealing money from the bank.

Her father was indicted on the charge and sent away to prison, so Aria found herself with what she felt was only one option, to run away. She moved from place to place, all the while keeping in touch with the young man she had met at the carnival that day until a few years ago when she got word that he was taking over the carnival and she offered to help in exchange for a place to stay.
